Crispy Apple Tart

If you love a crispy, melt-in-your-mouth apple tart, this recipe is just for you! It’s one of our family’s all-time favorite desserts. Give it a try, and you won’t be disappointed!

Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 125g butter (½ pack)

  • 1 egg

  • ½ cup vegetable oil

  • ½ cup sugar

  • 1 packet vanilla

  • 1 packet baking powder

  • 2.5 – 3 cups flour (adjust based on consistency)

For the filling:

  • 3 apples (use 4 if small)

  • ½ cup sugar

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Make it stand out

Instructions

Mix all the dough ingredients and knead until you get a soft, smooth dough.

  1. Divide the dough into two parts: 1/3 for the topping and 2/3 for the base. Wrap both in plastic wrap, placing the smaller portion in the freezer and the larger in the fridge. Let them rest for at least 30 minutes.

  2. Meanwhile, peel and grate the apples. Cook them in a pan with sugar until they absorb their juice. Just before removing from heat, add cinnamon and let the mixture cool.

  3. Take the dough from the fridge and press it evenly into a greased tart or springform pan, making sure to lift the edges slightly to form a crust.

  4. Spread the cooled apple filling evenly over the dough.

  5. Grate the chilled dough from the freezer using a coarse grater and sprinkle it over the apple filling.

  6. Bake in a preheated 170°C (340°F) oven until golden brown (around 40 minutes, but keep an eye on it).

  7. Let it cool before slicing. Enjoy your crispy apple tart!
